Overview What is the VoiceXML Forum?

The VoiceXML Forum is an industry organization formed to create and promote the Voice Extensible Markup Language (VoiceXML). With the backing and contributions of its diverse membership, including key industry leaders, the VoiceXML Forum has successfully driven market acceptance of VoiceXML through a wide array of speech-enabled applications.

About Membership

The VoiceXML Forum is open to any company interested in supporting the development and promotion of VoiceXML as an open, broadly supported markup language to enable speech-based applications and Internet information and content becoming voice and phone accessible.

The Forum is comprised of three membership levels: Sponsors, Promoters and Supporters. Companies may join the VoiceXML Forum as a Promoter or Supporter, and may be nominated to become a Sponsor.

Goals The VoiceXML Forum is an industry organization founded by AT&T, IBM, Lucent and Motorola, and chartered with establishing and promoting the Voice Extensible Markup Language (VoiceXML), a new specification essential to making Internet content and information accessible via voice and phone. Organization The VoiceXML Forum is governed by a Board of Directors, which directly oversees the Finance Committee, Marketing Committee, and Technical Council. The Technical Council oversees work conducted by the Forum's Technical Committees.
