VoiceXML FORUM ACCESSIBILITY COMMITTEE

CURRENT PROJECTS
The primary goal of the VoiceXML Forum's Accessibility Committee is to investigate and champion accessibility issues within the VoiceXML community. To achieve this goal, the committee undertakes the following functions:
  • Define user needs as pertains to VoiceXML applications through outreach to the hearing, speech, and visually impaired community.
  • Collaborate with government, industry, and academic institutions to determine best practices for addressing the needs of the hearing, speech, and visually impaired with respect to VoiceXML applications.
  • Propose extensions to the VoiceXML specifications to the W3C Voice Browser Working Group to better address accessibility issues.
  • Promote best practices for creating accessible VoiceXML applications in both dialog and application design. This is achieved by a variety of programs and projects, including but not limited to: user group events, formal publications, and online seminars.

The committee is composed of representatives from member companies and invited experts, and reports to the Forum's Technical Council. Current Members include:
