FORUM GOALS

The VoiceXML Forum is an industry organization chartered with establishing and promoting the Voice Extensible Markup Language (VoiceXML), the W3C's international standard markup language for accessing internet content and services via voice and telephone. Tens of thousands of commercial VoiceXML voice applications are already available from any of the nearly 2.5 billion phones in the world. These applications are powered by VoiceXML servers offered by almost 100 different vendors.

With the backing and technology contributions of its member companies, the VoiceXML Forum is uniquely positioned to make people's lives easier through the convenience of internet-based speech services and content.

The VoiceXML Forum has the following objectives:

  • To promote VoiceXML.
  • To educate the community about VoiceXML technology and resources.
  • To establish and promote a VoiceXML conformance program to ensure interoperability of platforms, tools, and applications across the industry.
  • To study VoiceXML tools and drive the creation of new tools that may be needed to assist developers in creating VoiceXML services.
  • To provide input to the W3C and other standards bodies on VoiceXML and related topics.
